Wall Mount vs Lintel Mount

When it comes to installing a strip curtain one common area of confusion revolves around the decision between a “wall” mount or a “lintel” mount for your specific application. In this post, we will dive into these options to help you make an informed choice.

Wall Mount Installation:

A wall mount installation involves affixing the mounting system to the front of the wall, just above the door opening. Usually, the strip curtain is a few centimetres wider than the opening. In this setup, the strip curtain “overlaps” the wall by a few centimetres on both sides and above the door to cover the opening entirely.

Lintel Mount Installation:

On the other hand, a lintel mount installation entails placing the mounting system within the door frame, suspending the PVC strips directly from the door’s lintel. With a lintel installation, the PVC strips fully fill the doorway but do not extend beyond the wall.

At Maxiflex, we start by understanding the dimensions of your door opening and determining the most suitable installation type. For lintel mount installations, we provide a strip curtain kit that matches the exact dimensions of the door opening. If you opt for a wall mount installation, we collaborate with you to decide how many centimetres of wall overlap you want on the left, right, and above the door opening and then adjust the strip curtain size accordingly.

When it comes to selecting the right installation method for your needs, it’s crucial to consider the unique characteristics of your door opening. For example, if the strip curtain accompanies another door, such as an insulated walk-in cooler door, a wall mount is the only option, as the insulated door completely fills the door jamb. In other scenarios, obstructions on the wall above or beside the door opening, like lights or rolling door hardware, may dictate a lintel mount installation as the best choice.

At Maxiflex, all our hardware systems are designed to be versatile. You can use them for both wall-mount and lintel applications, depending on the set of holes you choose to mount them. This flexibility ensures that you can adapt our products to your specific needs, making your PVC strip door installation as seamless as possible.
